SCHAFFLER air conditioning power systems are a combination of several power modules. Typically these will be comprised of a DC:DC converter and two three-phase inverters. The DC:DC converter will take the input power which is usually from batteries and regulate the power supplied to the inverters. One inverter supplies power to the air conditioning control system and evaporator fan(s). The other inverter is used to supply power to the compressor motor and fan. The inverter which drives the compressor is a soft-start unit - this means it ramps up the frequency in order to start the compressor. In this way the compressor motor is not overloaded.
